Enbridge Power to Gas Project

May 18, 2021
Lakeside is pleased to present the "Power to Gas Project" video which was featured in this year’s Emerson Exchange. The video features a discussion between Michelle George, the VP of Engineering and Storage & Transmission Operations of Enbridge, Greg Houston, the President of Lakeside Process Controls, and Randy Page of Emerson.
Title Goes Here

This video captures how the close partnership between Lakeside and Enbridge led to a unique one-of-a-kind project which will help lead Ontario into becoming a low carbon economy. This project began in 2018 when Enbridge put their Power to Gas plant in Markham into service. This plant uses surplus renewable electricity to produce emission free hydrogen, making it the first and largest plant of its kind in North America. Later this year, Enbridge will begin blending a small amount of that hydrogen into a pilot area in their natural gas system. This is going to help their customers reduce their emissions without having to make any changes on their end. While this is only a pilot for now, this is a scalable project that could have a major impact into Ontario's process of becoming a low carbon economy and lead to a more sustainable energy future.

We are honoured to have been a part of such a groundbreaking opportunity and look forward to working on more projects like this in the future.
