How a municipal wastewater project moved millions of dollars in forecasted revenue out sooner than planned by accelerating delivery of ten large-scale ozone destruct units, reducing schedule risk and protecting critical project milestones.
Facing internal space, manpower, and power constraints, the customer relied on Lakeside to assemble, test, commission, and troubleshoot the final five units while supporting quality alignment across all ten. This enabled faster execution, preserved internal capacity, and helped maintain critical delivery dates.
The Challenge
The customer needed to accelerate delivery of ten large-scale ozone destruct units but lacked the internal space, manpower, power infrastructure, and testing capacity required to execute the work without impacting other active projects.
Given the unprecedented size and complexity of the equipment, they needed a partner with the appropriate facilities, technical expertise, and flexibility to support parallel execution was required to maintain delivery commitments and reduce schedule risk.

What was at Risk?
- Further delays on a high-profile municipal infrastructure project
- Margin erosion from extended execution and site coordination impacts
- Reputational risk associated with delivery delays
- Limited ability to recover schedule through internal manufacturing alone
- Lost opportunity to move forecasted revenue forward
- Internal resource constraints affecting other active projects
- Quality inconsistencies between units built at different stages of the project
Customer Requirements
- Accommodate extremely large equipment footprints and extended floor occupancy
- Provide sufficient power infrastructure for demanding full-load testing
- Support mechanical, electrical, commissioning, and troubleshooting expertise
- Enable flexible staffing, overtime, off-shift, and weekend testing
- Maintain aggressive delivery schedules while internal teams continued other project work
- Apply rigorous safety protocols and high-energy testing controls
- Respond quickly to design changes, rework, and unexpected issues
The Solution
Lakeside provided the infrastructure and multidisciplinary workforce required to complete the remaining five ozone destruct units. The team assumed responsibility for assembly while also supporting testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, modifications, and quality alignment activities across all ten units.
The facility provided the floor space, crane capacity, power availability, and operational flexibility needed to support the project. Lakeside's team handled mechanical assembly, electrical integration, power supply calibration, commissioning support, thermal imaging, vibration pad setup, troubleshooting, and coordinated testing activities. The team also collaborated with technical specialists to resolve valve, power supply, and control-related issues while adapting to design changes identified during execution.
Testing involved high-energy systems operating at approximately 400°C and required strict safety controls. Lakeside's ability to flex manpower, support off-shift testing, and run multiple units in parallel created a significant schedule advantage compared with an internal execution model.
The Result
- Ten large-scale ozone destruct units successfully assembled, tested, and shipped
- Millions of dollars in forecasted revenue moved out sooner than planned
- Parallel execution accelerated delivery compared with an internal-only approach
- Internal manufacturing capacity preserved for other active projects
- Critical delivery dates maintained despite significant technical and schedule challenges
- Equipment installed and progressing through startup activities
- Improved quality consistency across all units delivered
Why Lakeside
The customer required a partner with the facilities, technical expertise, and workforce flexibility to execute a highly specialized project outside of its constrained internal operations. Lakeside provided the space, power infrastructure, skilled trades, testing capabilities, and commissioning support necessary to accelerate delivery while maintaining quality and safety standards. By enabling parallel execution and adapting quickly to project challenges, Lakeside helped reduce schedule risk, preserve internal capacity, and support successful project delivery.
