Imagination and creativity begins in the playground – and that is the fuel driving this project forward.
Karen Fehr, School Community Council at SDSS, organized a fundraiser with all proceeds going towards the playscape enhancement. “We discussed with the students a number of ideas to make not only visual improvements, but also ones that include the addition of practical items for the students to use. Some of the ideas that came forward from them were more seating areas or benches, a swing set, and another basketball net.”
Receiving news of the fundraiser, Lakeside steps up to become a donor. On January 9th 2020, Neal Tanaka (Account Manager at Lakeside) visited SDSS in Port Elgin to present the $500 donation to board members of the Student Council. “We like to donate when there is a really tangible result that will come out of it in the near future, especially for children,” said Tanaka.
This project will provide a safe and interactive environment for students and leaves a positive impact on the local Port Elgin community for years to come. Lakeside is looking forward to witnessing what was once a vision becoming a reality in Spring 2020.
Last but not least, we would like to express our gratitude and thanks to Saugeen Times and SDSS for recognizing Lakeside as one of the donors!
